Breckenridge 4th of July Events 2013

Krystal Knott June 24, 2013

Breckenridge, Colorado, is a fabulous mountain town to spend the 4th of July! While the fireworks in Breckenridge have been cancelled due to the high fire danger, you can still spend the day in Breckenridge and then head to Frisco or Dillon for fireworks over Lake Dillon. Breckenridge’s 4th of July is great fun for all ages, with festivities starting at 7 am!

If you have never spent the 4th of July in Breckenridge, you are in for an exciting day! The day starts out with the Independence Day 10K Trail Run at 7 am, followed by the Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race, which ends on Main Street, where over 800 riders will cycle in waves from 9:30-10 am. The Breckenridge 4th of July Parade starts at 10 am on the north end of Main Street. Many local businesses, such as the Country Boy Mine, the Red, White, and Blue Fire Department, decorate vehicles and roll down Main Street in style!

After the Breckenridge 4th of July Parade, the kids can participate in a water fight with the Red, White & Blue Fire Department from 12:30-2:30 pm…Krystal did this as a kid, and it is still a very fond memory! While the kids cool down in the water fight, parents can browse the Vipers that will line Breckenridge’s Main Street from 12:30-3 pm. At 2 pm at the Riverwalk Center, the town is putting on a free concert with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe.

After the concert, there is plenty of time to grab dinner at one of the 76 restaurants in Breckenridge before the 8:30 pm concert back at the Riverwalk Center. The National Repertory Orchestra is phenomenal with their 4th of July Holiday Concert. Relaxing on the lawn under the stars while listening to patriotic music is a great way to end your Breckenridge 4th of July.
