Summit County Ski Resorts Opening Days 2019-2020

Krystal Knott December 15, 2020

Wondering when the Summit County Ski Resorts plan on opening for the 2019-2020 ski season?

Amazingly, the Summit County ski season is already off to a fabulous start! Arapahoe Basin trumped Keystone by opening at 3:30 pm on October 11th, hours after Vail Resorts announced they would be opening for the season on October 12th at 9 am. This is the earliest opening date for A-Basin since 1995 and from the shortest “closed time”, having only been closed for 99 days from last season.

Vail Resorts pushed really hard to open first since the departure of A-Basin from the Epic Pass. In an effort to be first, Keystone Resort added state-of-the-art snow-making equipment, which should make for some great early-season skiing. Breckenridge will open later than Keystone on November 8th, but plans to stay open until May 25, 2020 – this would provide Epic Pass holders the longest ski season in North America (depending on the type of pass and blackout dates).

Loveland Ski Resort, which usually is in the race to open first, won’t open until they have at least an 18-inch base from tree to tree and top to bottom. No matter what ski resort you love to ski, the early-season snow is looking to make for a great 2019-2020 ski season at the Summit County ski resorts.
