The 3rd Annual USA Pro Cycling Challenge comes to Breckenridge Colorado on August 20-21, 2013. This 7-day professional bicycle race brings in some of the very best cyclists from around the world. Breckenridge, Colorado, was chosen to host the Stage 2 finish on Tuesday, August 20th and the Stage 3 start on Wednesday, August 21st.
Stage 2 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge starts in Aspen, where cyclists will climb to 12,000 feet at the pinnacle of Independence Pass, which is the highest any pro cycling event has ever reached. The riders will continue on Buena Vista, Fairplay, and Alma to Hoosier Pass and on into Breckenridge, where they will ascend Moon Stone Road with a 15% grade and then down Boreas Pass to the finish on Breckenridge’s Victorian Main Street.
If you are looking to attend the Stage 2 finish plan to be in downtown Breckenridge Colorado no later than 1pm as many roads will be shut down coming in and out of Breckenridge for the race. From 1-6pm, there will be plenty of activities in town to keep you entertained, including a hand cycling competition, bike stunt show, junior street sprint finals, and a free concert by Railroad Earth at 5:30 pm. Cyclists should be coming down Main Street around 3:30pm on August 20, 2013.
Stage 3 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge gets underway at 11 am, although the Start Village opens at 9 am in the Blue River Plaza just off Main Street and Washington. The start village will have fun activities as well such as pond crossing competitions, strider races and a bike stunt show. The USA Pro Cycling Challenge Stage 3 will leave Breckenridge’s Main Street and take two laps around Park Avenue/Main Street, then head over Swan Mountain Road onto to Steamboat where the cyclists will finish Stage 3.
