The Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships for 2014 start this week. 16 teams from all over the world start carving their block of snow on Tuesday, January 21st at 11 am until Saturday, January 25th at 10 am. The best time to view these works of art will start on Friday, January 24th, through Sunday, February 2nd (weather permitting). You can view these amazing snow sculptures in the Riverwalk parking lot, which can be accessed by foot from either Park Avenue or Main Street at the Blue River Plaza. The Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Championships are a must-see if you will be in town towards the end of January or the first few days of February.
This year, the teams are the most diverse Breckenridge has seen in years, with only 3 teams from the United States, and the rest from Great Britain, Iceland, Spain, Estonia, Germany, France, Finland, Russia, Mexico, Lithuania, Italy, and 2 teams from Mongolia. Awards will be given out at 4 pm on Saturday, January 25th. If you come after this date, the winning teams will have placards stating what place they won.
